Haxby Bakehouse Reportage
A series of reportage illustrations showing the inside workings of Haxby Bakehouse, York. The drawings report on the time on effort that goes into creating food, which often goes unnoticed. I see patisserie as each being miniature works of art, with each element taking days to prepare in advance. I wanted my reportage to reflect and showcase the behind-the-scenes that customers might not usually see when visiting the Bakehouse. My drawings feature a birds-eye view of the work space, to give a removed perspective view of the bakery. I wanted the viewer to feel like they are observing the bakers at work, without interfering with them, as I felt an in-line angle would have offered.
